Much needed changes to the DC comics universe!

I find myself completely unimpressed by all the versions of Donny Troy (Wonder Girl). According to "real" myth, the only Amazon to ever marry and have a child was Antiope (who was abducted by Theseus) so I have written a totally new background for Wonder Girl:

The Amazon Antiope in ancient times had been the wife of the hero (and her abductor) Theseus. She had a son with him that she named Hippolytus in honor of her Amazon queen and sister, Hippolyta. Theseus was seduced by Phaedra and tricked into believing that Hippolytus raped her at Antiope's word. He came to murder his son and Antiope. Antiope fled to Themyscira, but Hippolyta would not allow the boy onto the island. Antiope fled but evetually Theseus found her. He killed his son and began to battle Antiope, but was dragged into Hades by the Furies. Antiope, grieved, returned to Themyscria, but she never forgave Hippolyta for the death of her son. Antiope tried several times over millennia to overthrow her sister and become queen of the Amazons, failing each time. Eventually, Antiope was warned that any further attempts would result in her exile from Themyscira. Antiope, of course, did try again and was sent into exile. Antiope went to live in Troy. After Hippolyta created Diana (Wonder Woman) from the clay of Themyscria and named her the Princess of the Amazons, Antiope became enraged. Antiope decided to bear a child to challenge Diana. However, as mighty as the Amazon's are, they are not as mighty as Diana who had been given additional powers from the Gods in answer to Hippolyta's prayers (and because Athena desired a new champion in her gambit to depose Zeus). "Normal" Amazons do not have the ability to fly nor the resilience, strength or speed of The Wonder Woman. When General Dru-Zod escaped the Phantom Zone and threatened Earth (a DC version, not the Superman II version), Antiope seduced Zod and pretended to assist him, taking the name of Dark Angel to obscure her Amazon heritage. Once she concieved, she betrayed Zod and left him to his fate. Returning to Troy, Antiope gave birth to "Donna of Troy" and began to train her, and instill in her a hatred of Wonder Woman. However, Hippolyta had not forgotten Antiope and every year used the Mirror of Athena to scry upon her. In time Hippolyta learned of young Donna, and sent a rare expedition of Amazons from the Island to abduct Donna. Antiope was taken by surprise and was subdued easily. Antiope was given a stern warning from her former sisters that if she threatened Diana, or any Amazon again, it would be at her peril. However, the Amazons do not know that Antiope is Dark Angel. The abduction of Donna has instilled a deep seething anger and need for revenge in Antiope, not just on Diana or Hippolyta, but on all the Amazons, and the Gods themselves. Leaving Antiope to her exile, Donna was taken to Themyscria and raised by the Amazons, who obscured her actual heritage. Thanks to the benevolent rearing on Themyscria the darkness in Donna's soul from her vengeful mother and her ruthless father have been tempered, but still haunts the shadows of her psyche. Eventually, Donna, who always felt out of place on Themyscria, leaves the island,  seeking out Diana and becoming the heroine Wonder Girl. Her true origins remains obscured to all but Hippolyta and her captain, Philippus, who had led the assault on Antiope. Also see more on Antiope and the new character, Spartan below:

Expanded information on Antiope:

Antiope has developed a criminal & business organization based out of Greece and Empire City called HARPY and/or HARP Securities & Investments. Antiope has developed the alter-ego of Dr. Andrea Lopez, the founder and CEO of HARP, which began as the "Hospital and Retail Pharmaceutical" investment company. HARPY mainly exists to counter the influence of the Amazons, and in particular, Wonder Woman. Other members or allies of HARPY include: Veronica Cale (CAP), The Witch Circe, Blackfire (Komand'r), Penny Dreadful, Phobia, Silver Swan, Roulette and Faora Hu-Ul (Malice). Circe has provided Antiope with a variety of magical enhancements. Antiope's son, Spartan (see below) is also involved with HARPY.

New Character, Spartan:

Answering the prayers of Antiope, Ares conceived a child-of-revenge with her and has agreed to shield the child from the Mirror of Athena (Antiope hoping to prevent another Amazon abduction). Ares insisted that his offspring be a male. Anthony Mars is the son of Dark Angel and Ares, the younger half-brother of Donna Troy. Spartan is a brilliant young inventor, especially of weapon and armor systems.

...Once again I find the muddled background of a "B-List" DC character to be completely unacceptable for our DC-verse. Here is the origin for our Power Girl (Karen Starr):

The utter failure of the Dominator's multi-race invasion of earth was largely due to the powerful yellow-sun soaked Daxam defecting to the side of Earth. One of the defeated races, the Psions (A vile scientific race from the Vega Star System with a long history of bio-engineering), embarked on their own plan for gaining control of the meta-genome of Earth. Central to this, was developing a process that would minimize or eliminate the Daxam vulnerability to lead. The Daxam share a genetic history with Krypton, having migrated from the doomed planet millennia before that tragic day. It is through generations of Daxam living upon their adopted home-world, Dax, and interbreeding with other races that this Pb weakness emerged, and the weakness to Kryptonite radiation was submerged. The woman who would become Power Girl was one of several Daxam abducted by the Psions and taken to their labs in the Vega System. She, and several other subjects were exposed to the "re-evolutionary" process, attempting to restore much of the original Kryptonian genome and give the subjects a "Naked Mind" that the Psions could then condition into loyal servitude. Unfortunately for the Psions, the process worked, however, the latent abilities of the "Daxonians" were activated prematurely. Those that survived this sudden transformation were left with the mental faculties of an infant, with little or none of their former memories. These raging creatures fled into space from their captors, causing significant disruption in the Vega System and beyond. Some few were captured by the Lantern Corps, but even the Oa'ns were unable to reverse the mental damage caused by the Psion process. Daxam, concerned about further Psion plotting, and the possible contamination these hybrids might bring, refused to allow them repatriation. The GL Corps then turned its effort to retraining the minds of the Daxonians and finding them new homeworlds. Power Girl was brought to Earth, and became something of a "reluctant cousin" of Clark and Kara Kent, taking the name Karen Starr. Despite the kind efforts of the Kents, Karen was not able to adjust to their family life. Karen is headstrong and stubborn, with a passionate and fiery nature. A wild stallion that would not be broken. Once Karen's faculties returned to adulthood, she left the Kent's behind to find her own way on her new home-world. Karen does feel some familial bond with Kara (Supergirl) and occasionally meets up with her and encourages her to break out from under Superman's shadow and find her own way... which is not surprisingly, more like Power Girl's way. Karen has become something of a "Black Sheep" older sister for Kara, causing occasional tension with Clark, and between him and Kara. Related to this is the tweaked background of Supergirl: Kara Zor-El was saved before Krypton's explosion when, in a move of final desperation, she was sent into the Phantom Zone by her father Zor-El. Her transfer did not go smoothly, as it was rushed in the last moments before Krypton's destruction, and her mind and body were shattered.. She was in her early teen years when she was transported. In the PZ she slowly healed but aged slowly, emerging when Kal-El rescued her at the biological age of 15. She has significant amnesia from her traumatic phasing into the PZ that is only slowly recovering. She is now 17.

...this was the toughest one to figure out so far... man DC has had to many cooks trying to make its "soup du jour" I will fix it ALL!!! The following is a summary of several Maritan legends:

Among the first intelligent life that evolved in the galaxy were from the planet Malthus, in what is now called the Vega star system. A Maltusian scientist named Krona set of a catastrophe that nearly destroyed our young galaxy, and perhaps the universe. In the aftermath of this, the male and female survivors had a schism of philosophy that eventually led them into different paths. Since the Maltusians were now immortal, their culture had evolved to the point were new children were extremely rare, and traditional pairing of the sexes had become even rarer. The male Maltusians, who were interventionists, eventually settled on a planet they named Oa and set about bringing order and safety to the galaxy. The female Maltusians eventually settled on a planet they named Zamar and followed a secluded path of wisdom. Before leaving their shattered Malthus behind, a final action was performed by the unified Mathusian race. Out of love of their dying home they created a new race, that would eventually become the Psions, that were adapted to the new hostile environment of Malthus.

It came to pass that a young star system, named Sol, formed near the edge of the galaxy and caught the interest of the Oa'ns and the Zamarians. The star had previously unknown, and still little understood properties that imbued the developing life evolving near it strange mutations. These mutations would eventually develop into unique qualities such as the meta-gene and a unique form of magic that were not seen anywhere else in the galaxy, in addition it seemed that the star, and its planets, developed a kind of living spirit, quietly existing. The star's properties could also change the qualities of lifeforms from other star systems, such as Krypton. Ultimately, two intelligent races survived to develop in the Sol system: The Malaca'andraians, whom evolved first on the planet that would become known as Mars when mere dinosaurs and other mindless beasts wandered the other worlds of Sol, and the much younger race that would come to be known as Terrans on the planet that would become known as Earth. It was in the terrans that the meta-gene mutation developed into its current form.

The Malaca'andraians eventually spread out into the other worlds of Sol, leaving the Earth alone so that it's intelligent life could evolve in its own way. Ultimately only two other Malaca'andraians colony worlds developed large populations; A small world orbiting Jupiter called Kalanor, now called Europa, and Klaramar, a world now known as the moon Titan. On Kalanor, a new power source of combined psychic and nuclear energy was developed that came to be called Py'tar. This power made Kalanor into a paradise, but the Kalanorians horded its secrets jealously. Eventually the Py'tar proved to be a corrupting and destructive force as it absorbed more and more of the darker sides of the life near it. When Py'tar could absorb no more of these baser elements of consciousness it set off a psychic and nuclear explosion that killed most of the Kalanorians, and horribly mutated the remainder into a horrid race consumed with hatred and aggression. The Kalanorians struck out into a war of domination of the other races of Sol. They struck first on Klaramar, devistating this world and nearly destroying the Klaramarians. The Py'tar fueled weapons mutated the surviving Klaramarians as well. A small group of survivors hid from the Kalanorians by creating a microscopic world for themselves, and using their psychic powers to shift their minds into microscopic cloned bodies.

Next the warriors of Kalanor struck at their old homeworld of Malaca'andra. The native Malaca'andrians by now had developed amazing psychic abilities. As more and more Malaca'andrians fell, their psychic energies remained and increased the power of the survivors. In the end, a only a handful of Malaca'andrians with immense power survived. These few finally overcame the power of the Klaramarian's who fled the Sol system in a worldship powered by the Py'tar. The devistated and forlorn survivors of Malaca'andra, despite their power, now had only a dead world to live on. The only world of Sol that remained a haven for life was Earth. The Malaca'andrians chose one of their number to remain behind and guard Sol until it's final race, the Terrans, fully evolved. The remainder struck out into the galaxy seeking new purpose. This last Malaca'andrian of Sol, out of desperate loneliness in its solitude eventually decided to let itself die and become reborn, each time with a fresh mind able to withstand the endless ordeal of its vigil. After many hundred melienna the Terrans had evolved to when the Meta-gene was fully matured and humankind began reaching for the stars. The last Malaca'andrian let itself cycle through death and rebirth one last time, and then finally came to Earth to finish its purpose. This last survivor of Malaca'andria is J'onn J'onzz, adopting Earth as its home for its last cycle of life, with a fresh new mind to experience it as the Martian Manhunter.

Aquaman *sigh* this background is only tweaked:

Arthur Curry (Orin), had fled Atlantis in the arms of his mother, Atlanna, during the coop of his Uncle Orn against his brother, King Titus. Atlanna was killed in the effort, but secured Orin's escape. Orin was found on the beach by Tom Curry, a lighthouse master, who raised the lad as his son, naming him Arthur Curry, who was destined to become Aquaman. Garth was the son of King Thar and his consort, Berra. Thar was the leader of the Idylists, who were founded by a group of pacifistic, magic-using Atlanteans who lived in a region of the sea called "Hidden Valley".  Thar was killed in confilict with his brother, the wizard Zath-Sil, however, Thar managed to banish Zath-Sil into the Crystal Cave (a magical prison dimension, the same fate as Merlin). The Idylists, fearing the conflict of the Monarchy then became a Republic, and decided to exile the remainder of the royal family, Berra and Garth, as part of securing the new Republic. Mother and Son returned to Atlantis, where they were allowed to live, but only tolerated by the populace. By the time Garth and his mother came to live in Atlantis, Arthur had overthrown Orn and had taken his rightful place as the King of Atlantis. Atlantis become more welcoming of Berra and Garth after Garth rescued Aquaman from the villain Charybdis (who cut off Aquaman's left hand in the battle). Garth then became Aqualad, and was eventually adopted by Orin. Later, In a play to escape the Crystal Cave, Zath-Sil possessed Garth after Garth began to dabble in sorcery on his own. Garth, under Zath's influence destroyed his mother, but as she died Berra used the last of her power to force Zath out of her son and back into the Crystal Cave. The power Zath imbued in Garth while possessing him changed the young man forever, giving him additional powers. In the wake of this Tragedy, Aquaman's married the common Atlantean Mara (who had been the first Aquagirl) and named her his queen (rather then his consort, thus elevating her to nobility). Soon after this the royal couple had a son, named Arthur (who then became Orin's hier, rather then Garth, and prompted the King of the Seas to focus more of his attention on Atlantean affairs). Garth then left the shadow of Aquaman and became the hero Tempest, the sea prince.

Tweaked Huntress:

Helena Bertinelli; daughter of the Gotham Bertinelli mafia family. Raped as a child. Sent away to private school with a bodyguard named Tony "Sal" Angelo, who started her training. Saw her whole family murdered by Omerta the Silencer and his squad. Learned that Omerta was secretly Donald Campbell, her family's Consiglieri, turned traitor. Omerta's boss is Stephen Mandragora, the head of the rival family who was behind all Helena's tragedy. Narrowly escaping with her life, Helena flees to Sicily, to live with her cousins, the Asaros family. The Asaros are a family of assassins, and gave Helena further training. Helena returns to Gotham to begin her war on the Mandragora, the Mafia, and any other deserving prey that find themselves on the wrong end of her crossbow.

The Marvels:
In our DC universe, Billy and Mary Batson's parent's were killed in a car wreck and the two children were raised by their Uncle Dudley Batson and Aunt Sarah. Mary is Billy's older sister, though Billy has had the power of Shazam longer. Billy and Mary were on a camping trip in the mountains east of Knoxville a few weeks after Mary found out Billy was Captain Marvel, which she had kept to herself to that point, unsure what to do about it. There was a rock slide and the two were pushed off a cliff into midair, falling towards a river far below. Billy had hit his head and was unconscious. Mary, who had held onto her brother, called out SHAZAM! in desperation before they hit the ground. She became Mary Marvel for the first time.

Hawkgirl (most of this stolen from the DCAU):
Shayera Hol is a Thanagarian visitor who came to Earth and joined the Justice League. The Thanagarians are a technological society that had risen from the ashes of a magical cataclysm. The Thanagarian's are a winged people and have some rudimentary psychic abilities that remain from an arcane past. Perhaps most notable of these is an ancestral memory that each Thanagarian has. This factors significantly into their combat ability as they remember lifetimes of experience and training. The Thanagarians have always been a warrior race, dating back to when they were created to be an army for a demonic god. After miliennia of slavery and war the Thanagarians were able to overthrow their dark god, but the price was high. They lost most of their access to magic and Thanagar was in ashes. Now they guard their liberty fiercely, and though they are aggressive, they also have a code of honor. Shayera is now an exile from Thanagar, she had been sent to Earth to gather intelligence in preperation for an Thanagarian invasion. The Thanagarians had developed a stellar disruptor that could trigger a star's collapse which needed to be tested. This weapon was badly needed in a war Thanagar was losing against their enemy, the Gordanians. Earth had the type of star that was ideal for the test, and the Sol system had an abundance of the raw materials required to manufacture the weapon. There was no time to continue searching for an uninhabited system, as each day brought further military losses. The Thanagarians decided to push forward with the test, planning on manufacturing the weapon on Earth. They intended to save as many Terrans as they could with their Arcships, but Sol would have been lost, the Earth destroyed and Billions would have died. Shayera had come to admire Terrans, their fighting spirit and desire for freedom reminded Shayera of her own people, and she came to believe it was against the Thanagarian Code to destroy such a people, even to win a war. Shayera had also fallen in love with the Green Lantern, John Stewart. When her people came to Earth, she betrayed them, reavealing her true purpose and warning the Justice League of Thanagar's true intent. John felt deeply betrayed, and the two parted. Their relationship has been strained ever since and Shayera resigned from the Justice League to avoid any further conflict with the friends she betrayed.

The Bat-women:

Katherine Kane is the Batwoman. Her origins are much different in our DC world. The Batwoman operates in Metropolis, not Gotham City. Kate is Cassandra Cain's older half-sister. Katherine was David Cain's first attempt at creating the perfect combatant (Kate just chose to spell her last name differently after disowning her father). Kate Kane's mother is Susan Kent (moved in my continuity from WWII era to the Vietnam era), who was Bulletgirl (no relation to the Kansas Kents). Susan had retired after her boyfriend Jim Barr was killed in Vietnam (as Bulletman). She began working in Metropolis PD, where her father is a Sgt. and Jim was a forensics scientist. She had been Jim's assistant and took over his Job after he died. David Cain blackmailed her, threatening to reveal her identity unless she bore him a child. She refused, but compromised by allowing him to have some of her eggs to use with a paid surrogate mother. Kate did have a relationship with Renee Montoya while she was training to be Batwoman in Gotham. She and Batman had a falling out (both of them are just too independent, stubborn and strong willed to work together). So she then returned to Metropolis, breaking things off with Montoya who chose to remain in Gotham.

A new "Sprirt":

Donna Colt (Spirit II), the niece of Denny Colt (Spirit I). Donna was an officer on track to make detective in the Central City Police. When she was killed in the line, Denny's Spirit finally rested (after more the 20 years as The Spirit) and passed his power to Donna.

A new "Roulette":
The daughter of Veronica Sloane, and now the third person of the family to take the name Roulette. Veronica wanted her daughter to have true superpowers, unlike her and her mother. To that end she took an experimental meta-gene activation serum when inseminated in the lab of T.O. Morrow. The result of which was her child, Jenny Sloane.
