Take my hand

Take my Hand

Silver girl peeking over
wide eyes are staring
dancing in the bright moonlight
in ladybug shoes
Running wild through the raindrops
jumping in puddles
making the little rainbows
for her to slide on.

Chorus:
Take the hands of the child
Never-land is a cradle
a child in the sandbox
is a world with no fear
please do not let me go
into bitter winter
where people in boxes
dream the world into gray.

Muddy boy in white sneakers
conquering the backyard
bringing floods to the anthills
and chasing the squirrels
Swimming in the cold ocean
hike up to the moon
flying high over mountains
then running for home.

(Chorus)

I've heard death has a carriage
and whispers at night
about how she will catch you
as you chase the Sun
she says walk into winter
and do not be bitter
for you'll all be in boxes
with all of your dreams.

End Chorus:
Take the hands of my child
I will take hold of yours
we can jump in puddles
then hike up to the moon
hold me tight in winter
hold me tight in the spring
hold me tight so I know
that I'm never alone.
